Rumours suggest that both Call of Duty and Battlefield are going to introduce a battle Royale mode and we discuss the repercussions.
Two of the most popular games on the planet i.e. Fortnite and PUBG use a concept called a battle Royale mode where 100 players battle each against each other to come out on top. The map size decreases in size which forces surviving players to a confined area to fight it out.© Epic GamesNow rumours are suggesting that both Battlefield and Call of Duty franchises are flirting with their own iteration of a battle Royale mode and we feel it's a really bad idea. The upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 may not have a single player mode and instead will include a potential battle royale mode according to Kotaku sources. © PUBGWhile the format of Battle Royale may be hot at the moment, the formula will definitely not suit both franchises due to the nature of its gameplay. One acts as a war simulator while the other is more of arcade shooting game. The battle Royale format requires a player to be stealthy, ingenuity and patience which is quite not associated with the two military shooting games. This feels like a cheap move to jump on a bandwagon that may just backfire on the two companies if the new mode is introduced. © ActivisionA move to introduce a battle Royale format to a shooter game is quite predictable and to be fair, most PC gamers are exclusively playing Battle Royale games. EA and Activision are business at first and their main priority is profit. So it's not a surprise the two publishers are flirting with the new mode. © Electronic ArtsThis move should not be taken lightly by either of the two companies and the two franchises have a huge loyal following. A cheap tactic to introduce a battle Royale mode may just alienate the games core audience and could backfire similar to the “Battlefront 2” fiasco. What do you think if the two games introduced a battle Royale mode? Would it be a far cry from what both these games represent or would you play the new mode regardless? Let us know in the comments section. Source: Kotaku
