Trying to run PS2 games at 1080i, is there something I'm doing wrong? (OPL GSM)

So I’ve tried using the latest beta version of OPL with GSM support. I’ve configured GSM for each game, and while it does output as 1080i, all it really does is upscale the picture rather than increase the internal resolution (basically, it still looks like 480p but the pixels are blocky rather
